Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held on Back To School Night, Wednesday, September 26th – September 28th.  Please see class schedule below.

If your child will be shopping for books with their class, please send in an envelope with their name, class and $dollar amount they have written on the outside of the envelope.  Parent volunteers and classroom teachers will help guide the children into what books they can get.

Legacy Week – Formerly Known as Celebrate With Books

Legacy Week – Attention 5th Grade Parents
Legacy Week is a PTA sponsored event for the 5th Grade Class of 2019. This event was started to help keep the BPS library stocked with wonderful books. It is an opportunity for your 5th Grader to donate a book to the library and then “showcase” themselves in one of BPS showcases located outside the office or library.  Fill the showcase with special things that tell us about your child.  A “donated by” label will be placed in your child’s donated book for all BPS eternity. As an added bonus they get to go on the announcements with Mr. Klimko and share their favorite thing about BPS!

 

Here is how it works:

– Choose a week for your showcase from this signup genius link Legacy Week BPS Class of 2019. 

– You have the options of donating the book of your choice or donating $15 and letting the librarian choose with your child.

– Please fill out the form found on the Legacy week page at http://bpspta.digitalpto.com/pta-programs-events/celebrate-with-books/.  Stick it in your child’s folder in an envelope marked “Legacy Week”.  It should include the form (and $15 if you’ve selected to let the librarian choose the book) or feel free to dop it off in the PTA mailbox, located in the main office.

– Each week has the option of the main entrance or the library showcase. The week and location will be on a first come first serve basis per the sign up.

***Please note that certain weeks only have 2,3 or 4 days so please check the school calendar when you choose your week***.

On the week of your child’s showcase please have your display up by 8:35 on the first day of the school week. The custodians have the keys to unlock the showcases. You may be able to set up your display the Friday afternoon before your week starts. Please dismantle your display after school on the last day of your week so the next person can set theirs up.  You can also just send in your child with a bag and they will be able to empty it on Friday after classes.

After October 5th, we will open this up to the rest of the school as the original Celebrate with Books.

Nurse’s Healthy Hints

Our school nurse, Mrs. O’Hara, puts together a monthly letter with all of her healthy hints for your children during the school year.  These newsletters will be sent out with Mr. Klimko’s monthly Brookside Briefs via e-mail and will also be added to our PTA website each month.  You can find Mrs. O’Hara’s Healthy Hints by visiting her page on this site at http://bpspta.digitalpto.com/nurses-healthy-hints/

This month she has put together a letter welcoming all of our families to the new school year.  She has included some great tips on when to decide to keep your little one home from school for an illness.  She also included a great information sheet on head lice information.  You will also find her contact information in the letter in case you ever need to reach out to her.

KidStuff Book

Its that time of year again.  The KidStuff Coupon Book was sent home on Friday, 9/14.  Our school earns 50% of every book that is sold.  Most coupons don’t expire until December 2019.   You earn one FREE book for every 5 books sold!  Only the OLDEST child in each family will receive a book.  If your oldest child does not bring a book home by Friday, 9/28 please email me at [email protected].

*If you would like to keep the book please complete the contact information on the envelope. Please send cash or checks payable to BPS PTA.  Send the envelope back with your child to give to the teacher.

*If you would like to order additional books indicate the amount of each book for each county on the back of the envelope.  Enclose cash or check(s) for each additional book and return the envelope to school with your child.  Any extra books you order will be sent home with your child in early/mid October.

*If you do not wish to purchase the book please have your child return it to his/her teacher in the bag it came in.  Please do not remove the label on the book with your child’s name and class.  It is the only way I know who is returning it.

*Please remind your child that the envelope or book is in their backpack and they must return it to their teacher.

*All books and payments must be received no later than SEPTEMBER 26, 2018.
