Art Night Wednesday, March 19th

This year’s BPS Art Night theme is: “Who Am I?”  Students will create self portraits using found objects that represent the student and his/her personality.

found’ ob’ject:

noun:  A natural object or an artifact not originally intended as art, found and considered to have aesthetic value.

In class, students will be preparing for this evening by creating a blank face portrait.  At home, they can be gathering materials to attach to their faces that will express who they are as an individual.  Found objects come in all shapes and sizes.  Some ideas to bring in could be:

  • Small toys
  • Natural materials (shells, leaves, rocks, etc.)
  • Fabric, buttons, string
  • Recyclable materials
  • School supplies
  • Kitchen items
  • Screws, nails, bolts, and other building materials
  • Non-perishable food items (like dried beans, noodles, etc.)

Ask your child what things would best stand for what they are about, what activities they are into, what things they like, etc… most importantly,

Be creative!!
